Ok, so the official title of the summer training is : “Integrating iPads, Laptops, and Digital Tools to Create Differentiated Learning Environments” but we it was too long for our site. As today’s classrooms become increasingly diverse, teachers frequently find themselves working to address the varying needs of their students. Emerging technologies allow teachers to create flexible, individualized, curricula that can scaffold as well as enrich. The goal of this workshop is to explore and evaluate technologies to facilitate differentiation, support diverse learners, and create rich learning environments that meet the needs of all students.
During this workshop, they will:
Identify key skills for students to possess in order to leverage technology effectively to support their own learning.
Investigate the Universal Access features on Mac and PC computers that can support students with tools such as text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and search features.
Explore a variety of web-based tools for organization and presentation such as Evernote, Wunderlist, collaborative documents, Voicethread, Animoto, Prezi, Audacity, and Audioboo.
Discuss various communication tools to use with individual students, classes, teams of teachers, and/or parents/guardians. Tools may include Edublogs, Goalbook, and Edmodo.
Interact with digital texts through services such as Bookshare and Audible as well as web sites such as UDL Editions, Books Should be Free, and GoogleBooks.
Collaborate to create and share a new unit, lesson, or project plan that incorporates technology and addresses a range of learning needs.
Collect online resources such as CAST, LD Resources, Edutopia, and Thinkfinity using the social bookmarking tools Livebinders and Diigo.
